Whitney Houston, Please Stop Your Foolish Comeback Tour
If I compare Whitney Houston’s comeback world tour to a dish, the only thing I could do is to throw it into the litterbin with great regret. Yes, I have never been disappointed by something like her comeback world tour. In a word, it once made me expectant, but finally I found all my beautiful imaginations was no more than illusions.
After a string of increasingly ridiculous appearances across Europe, I have to admit that my memory of the singer in her heyday as one of pop’s most glamorous women is fading incredibly fast… Where is my sexy and stylish Goddess now? I just saw a big fat neighbor grandma! You will never know how I miss her graceful bearing at one of her concerts in 2004. At that concert, her shining smile, her heart-touching sound and her fantastic one-shoulder pleated sidesplitting satin chiffon celebrity dress, you know, all things were so perfect that I was deeply moved. Sorry I just have forgotten the name of that concert, but I still remember her celebrity dress’s style that day (See picture above). I’m quite sure it was that one because a friend of mine who works for a famous wholesale celebrity dress website milanoo told me that. Thanks a lot if you can remind me with more details about that concert.
OK, now let’s see how the big fat grandma destroyed my beloved Whitney Houston. The latest stop of her tour was on Tuesday night in Rome, which saw the 46-year-old in bloated and bedraggled form. However, many her fans like me felt desperately upset because she appeared far from her former glamorous self as she took to the stage. You know, when her fans applauded her return after a highly publicized battle against drug addiction, they are also subjected to some erratic performances. Look at the photo above and you will find how the harsh stage lighting illuminated her bedraggled appearance.
You see, our poor Miss Houston squeezed herself into tight-fitting leather trousers and a black sequined jacket for the concert. What’s worse is that the bright-stage lighting merely illuminated the sweat dripping down from her face.
Such a shameful photo above reminds me with another her unsightly appearance that came just a couple of days later, showing Miss Houston singing at a private party in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the South of France. At that party, she dressed in a slinky glittering white gown that had been used in promotional posters for the tour, called “Nothing But Love”. Enlightened by that song, I’d like to call her “Nothing But Tummy”. See the left photo and you will know why. I was even afraid that her big tummy would burst her dress. Her outfit merely accentuated her increased weight, acquired through years of unhealthy living.
Under such circumstances, no wonder Miss Houston’s comeback tour has been dogged by setbacks. Last month, she was forced to cancel her opening performance in Manchester after claiming she had caught a chest infection. Her subsequent appearances in Birmingham and London - her first concert in the capital since 1999 - were heavily criticized with some fans demanding their money back. Similar problems had beset the Australian and Asian stops of her tour - she also came under fire for forgetting the words to her songs.
